Sea Farers 101 by PATA Phlippines LPU-Manila Student Chapter

The Pacific Asia Travel Association Philippine Student Chapter, is now considered as one of the biggest college based organization in Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila which caters to all the courses under the Hospitality and Tourism industry, including those who are taking the Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management with specialization in Cruise Line Operations in Culinary Arts, or Hotel services. They also have their organization specially made for the Cruise Line Students called, the LPU-Society of Cruise Line Students which the President is also the Chairman of the PATA PH student Chapter.

 

For nine years now, The Lyceum Society of Cruiseline Students aside from being the 2nd largest college-based organization, they also take pride in hosting different integrated seminars that are very essential to all Cruiseline students and even the whole College. The league broadened its scope as it welcomed the whole of College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management students specifically the Cruiseline majors to its soil with the participation of international and national accredited institutions.

 

Last August 27, 2014, The Society conducted an integrated seminar entitled: SEAFARERS 101 In broad strokes: Personality Development, Job Opportunities and Motivations in cooperation with Pacific Asia Travel Association Philippine Student Chapter, this is the first time that PATA PH student chapter coordinated with the one of the recognized organization in LPU Manila. Three are invited speakers namely; Dr. Lizelle Eugenio-Villanueva who is currently an Officer-in-Charge- Professional Development Center of Manila Tytana Colleges, Head- Marketing and External Affairs Office of Manila Tytana Colleges, Professor-Graduate School (Education, Psychology, Business) at Adamson University, Seminar Speaker and Consultant and reigned as Mrs. Philippines- International 2009. And, Ms. Sheryll S. Tiangco who is currently working on a Cruiseline as Cruise Specialist.

 

Dr. Villanueva talked about Personality Development discussion entitled: “Positive self-image and happiness” according to her Self-image can determine the quality of our relationship with others. She was also able to discuss Self-esteem- its benefits and building this character. According to her, acquiring self-esteem has a great impact in our physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual well-being. Also, She was able to tackle the different aspects of Personality like proper grooming, Intellectual, social principles and etiquettes. As per her, “We make choices and decisions based on our values. In fact, every decision we make is influenced by our values”. Lastly, she tackled about the Proper dressing according to her Proper dressing can lead us to success. She left a quote by Mark Twain to lighten up the students ““The worst loneliness is to not be comfortable with yourself.”
